Joose

This is what the kids are drinking now. It has caffeine, ginseng, and taurine. It's also 9% alcohol. We're not supposed to know that. We're supposed to think it's an energy drink. I'm having fun busting the 'joosers'. I would think this would mess a person up like mixing uppers and downers. It may not be that high a dose, but still not good for the body.

According to Wikipedia, Joose has more alcohol by volume than beer:

Joose is an alcoholic energy drink, similar in design and purpose to competing beverages such as Sparks and Tilt. It is growing in popularity due to its relatively high alcohol content (9.0-9.9% ABV) compared with other beverages generally available at a convenience store such as beer (typically 5-6% ABV) and other alcoholic energy drinks (typically 8% ABV).

-And they think they can bring it into the library? wtf?

Ugh. They'd probably stop if you explained to them what taurine is.

I'm not gonna lie, we drank in the library in college once or twice. But at least we had the sense about us not to use the actual containers.

librarianwoes, Joose's website has fun with their name too.

arkham, I hadn't picked up on all the energy alcohol drinks available, but I don't think I've seen Sparks or Tilt around. Yeah, the students will bring beer in here and drink out of the cans. They'll bring bottles of wine in too. They'll do it if they think they can get away with it.

Rachel, I had to look up taurine to know what it was. Bile, yum.

Taurine is an ingredient in cat food, isn't it? Gross!

Are you serious? Taurine is bile, and college students are drinking it? Or, even worse, MY CAT is eating it???

gag. gag. gag. gag.

I almost hate to ask this--but what does it taste like?

if you had to wiki to get the
alcohol/beer content comparison
figure, then you probably need
some Joose!
and yes, they CAN bring it in.
as long as those cans have the
stealth energy drink "look"
who will stop them?

The the energy drink that kills me is "NOS" . The bottles and labels are made to look like a Nos Can.
NOS "Nitrous Oxide System used to enhance power performance in engines.
Very Responsible packaging... not
