Finally, an alarm clock that's smarter than me.
Gauri Nanda, Research Associate, MIT Media Lab is about to make a lot of money. This clock is ingenious. Hopefully, they'll become available for purchase in the very near future.
I can't tell you how much I want one of these, but the idea of Clockys banding together is kinda frightening, and I think we can do better than brown shag.

ROFL re the clocks banding together.
But I still say cats make the best alarm clocks. My sister's used to sit on her chest and pat her eyelids with its paw until she stirred. Then it got up on the bedside table and started knocking stuff off.
It also liked to watch people have a shower. It would stroll in and sit facing you and just watch like a prison warden. This was unnerving but kept bathroom-hogging to a minimum.
Animals are useful, but as alarm clocks, there's the issue of mortality. My felines know this. I hope Nanda makes Clocky VERY durable.
